Objectives
Within this work package, we will design and build a size optimised atomic source and sensor vacuum system as well as a portable laser system including control electronics. We will define and provide compatible interfaces for elements of a modular system, which includes optics, electronic experiment control, and a low-power atom chip environment for the generation of necessary magnetic and electrical fields. Size, weight, and power consumption will be optimised for mobile ultra-cold atom system. For characterisation and optimisation purposes, we will develop an inertially stable reference in order to distinguish vibrational noise from other gravitational and rotational signals. We will monitor the development of optical waveguide technology at near-infrared wavelengths (GaAs materials, within iSense) for the reduction of complexity and weight.
