WP3: Atom Chip Designs

The objective of this WP is the design and fabrication of micro-fabricated atom chips, suitable for the implementation of guided matter wave interferometers. The development will be undertaken in several steps to test basic designs, including permanent magnetic films, current-carrying wires, and inclusion of mw and rf antennas, potentially in multi-layer configurations. These studies will form the basis for a final layout that can be incorporated in a mobile device. This work package also includes the design and construction of matching chip environments to provide electrical, optical, and mechanical interfaces. The work undertaken in this WP will be guided by results obtained in WP2, WP4, and WP5.
