Research Fellow in Theoretical Cold Atomic Physics

A suitably qualified and experienced individual is required to carry out independent research in theoretical cold atomic physics. The research is contributing to the efforts of the international MATTERWAVE consortium that aims at building and characterising a guided matter wave interferometer based on cold trapped atoms.

Candidates must have a PhD in physics and experience in theoretical atomic physics and Bose condensed gases. Expertise in quantum optics and metrology will be helpful. They should be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working with a variety of different international people across discipline boundaries. The role will
require the candidates to actively contribute to the research activities of the condensed matter theory group and the cold atoms group.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 24 months.

Salary is in the range from £28,132 to £36,661 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
